Client Spotlight: A Florida Yacht Club Baby Shower

We always love when our customers share their photos with us from their beautiful parties! And we especially love it when when the parties so effortlessly carry out the color schemes of the Dixie invitations that were part of the big day! This Florida baby shower was the perfect setup to celebrate Dixie customer Shannon Darling's best friend, Kallen Stefurea, who was pregnant with her third child this past spring.

Shannon chose our Pink Cosmos & Ladybug card design for her invitation, menu cards, and the party favor tags she attached to adorable mini Rosé bottles. We were able to tweak the colors of Gina Langford's beautiful watercolor to match the soft peach tones that Shannon had requested. Scroll to the bottom of the post to shop our entire Pink Cosmos & Ladybug paper collection.

When my best friend told me she was pregnant for the third time we were both so anxious to find out what she was having! She already had two little boys and when we found out the third was a girl, we were over the moon excited!

She had always lived far away when pregnant with her others so I knew I wanted to do something special. I based the theme on her design of the nursery for sweet Evelyn Margaret. I knew Dixie Design would be perfect for all of the decor for the shower.

I chose one of their previous designs and they were so great on working with me to tweak the colors to match her decor. My favorite item was the monogram from the invitation that they were able to make into a print that I had framed through framebridge. It was such a fun memento and it now hangs in her sweet nursery.

I was so happy to be able to celebrate this sweet little girl and her mama and I couldn’t of imagined Dixie Design doing a more beautiful job! Everything was perfect!

A "Knittin Kitten" Baby Shower

Event planner Kristina Miller hosted the sweetest "Knittin Kitten" baby shower for her sister-in-law in January and we were thrilled to create the custom invitation suite for her using Sarah Ragan's artwork . You can shop the entire Kitten Collection here.

Kristina was so generous to share images of this sophisticated, yet adorably cozy and playful baby shower. In addition to the images, she has also shared details about the day below.

When my sister-in-law Jill told us she was pregnant, I was immediately flooded with tears of joy, excitement and of course ideas for her baby shower! Jill adores her two Bengal cats so I knew I wanted to incorporate them into the day. I thought kittens would be the perfect theme for the gender-neutral shower and since the event would be taking place in the winter, I wanted to create a warm and intimate vibe for Jill’s friends and family. Cozy cable-knit sweaters and grey knit baby booties I found at Zara inspired the color palette and ultimately the “Knittin’ Kitten” theme.

Once we had the theme nailed down, I reached out to the incredibly talented ladies of Dixie Design to create a custom stationery suite. Sarah Ragan’s drawing of a kitten playing with a ball of yarn turned out better than I ever could have imagined! We used the image on everything from the invitations and menu cards to the favors and custom cocktail napkins. We also added a hand-drawn cable-knit pattern to the back of the invitation and menu cards as an extra cozy detail.

The venue, Mamàn TriBeCa, offered so many unique spaces to create impactful moments from the bookshelves to the tiled bar to the floral bud vase wall. Their staff’s professionalism and attention to detail was impeccable and the food was divine (I highly recommend the chocolate chip cookies – Oprah is also a fan!). That being said, I could not have achieved my overall vision without the amazing ladies of Stems & Co. They absolutely nailed the floral design and I loved how they incorporated birch elements, mini succulents, mercury glass votives and a major eucalyptus garland moment that really contributed to the elegant and effortlessly chic ambiance.

We did a more modern take on the clothesline typically seen at baby showers. We used this fluffy white garland I found at Anthropologie and hung an adorable grey cat baby outfit on it with clothespins. We also added baby photos of the parents-to-be and their cats Puma and Dash!

One of my favorite activities for the shower was for each guest to write a message to the baby on a fabric square that would later be sewn into a quilt for the nursery. All of the guest’s messages were so personal and heartfelt and it created such a meaningful keepsake for the family.

I especially enjoyed adding in personal touches that I knew would mean so much to Jill. She collects coffee mugs and is a bit of a tea aficionado so we ordered custom mugs and filled them with Chamomile tea, a silver hand-stamped teaspoon and a jar of honey for the favors.

There were so many fun décor elements, I couldn’t possibly choose just one! I loved the cable-knit table runners I found at Crate & Barrel and the fun photo op we created using the blue and white wallpapered wall at the entrance of the party. I thought it would be a sweet play-on-words to write out “Purrfect Little One” in large silver balloon letters and it was a huge hit with the guests! In lieu of place cards, we tied calligraphed tags onto balls of yarn that later doubled as string for guests to play “How Big is Mommy’s Belly.” Jill’s husband Bryce actually won the game!

It was such a blast designing and creating this special day for my best friend and I can’t wait to show my beautiful niece Avery the wonderful photos that our photographer Stephanie Sunderland took. She truly captured the magic of the day!

Sarah Tucker's "Monograms & Mom-mosas" Baby Sprinkle

One of our favorite lifestyle bloggers, Sarah Tucker, recently used our Pink Cosmos & Ladybug Crest invitations (pictured at the bottom of this post) for a "Monograms & Mom-mosas" baby sprinkle she hosted at her home. We're thrilled to share the details with you! This party was filled with girly pink hues and spring flourishes. Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom for her fun party favors!

My friend Amber and I hosted a sprinkle shower for sweet Jordan from My Southern Mommy.  We actually met through Instagram a couple years ago, and we live two streets over from one another.  She’s from Mississippi – the mother land.  I have loved getting to know her over the past three years and my children love playing with Covington.  The shower was monograms & Mom-mosa’s themed.  Though there were plenty of actual mimosas too (:We had so much fun picking out the flowers.  We went to Kings Wholesale, and unless you order them ahead of time you may not have a ton to choose from.  But we got lucky and they had a lot of favorites.  We used garden roses, ranunculus, larkspur, silver dollar eucalyptus, snapdragon, and italian ruscus.  I also found pretty roses at Aldi of all places to fill in.  If you physically open them up, they look more like garden roses than just regular roses.  I used a lot of what I learned helping Caroline with my sisters flowers – you can see that post here.  Including using quick dip!  I tied pink ribbon on a lot of easter decor that did double duty for this shower.  {you can find the little wreath sculpture here}The invitations were from Dixie Design (c/o).  We also slipped a monogrammed tag in with the invites, and on the back included the baby's initials.

The big rose in the middle is from Aldi, and like I mentioned earlier, I just pulled it open to make it look like this. I am still loving my buffet I found at goodwill, and it’s nice to have a spot for things like this for parties. My mom gave me this huge champagne bucket for my birthday a couple years ago.  I’ve used it so much!  It was from Marshalls, but this one from Wayfair is similar.Love these little Crudités – hummus with all of your fave veggies.  Easy, self serve, and pretty.

The party was at 2pm on Sunday.  It was such a great time for a sprinkle (and easy on the hosts!) as everyone had eaten, and all we really needed to have was a few things to eat.  Shannon painted this almost three years ago and it’s been in basically every party I’ve thrown or my friends have thrown since.

My dress is from Rent the Runway – and is dress the population // my pink shoes are from J.McLaughlin c/o.

An olive and tate inspired cheese board, but with Aldi ingredients.

We did a single succulent for a favor.  My friend amber told everyone that every time you see it, to say a prayer for the baby.  I love that.

All the Pink for Lemon Stripes' Julia Dzafic's Newest Arrival

We are thrilled to have Julia Dzafic, author of the successful Lemon Stripes blog, as our current featured Tastemaker. The girls at Dixie fell in love with the adorable nursery she prepared for her new baby, Amalia, and we're grateful to Julia who is allowing us to share some images with you!  You will clearly see why there was no way we could stray from the nursery’s all-pink color scheme when it came to designing Amalia's birth announcement and stationery.

Julia requested that her cards’ design be in shades of pink and and that we would go all out making them as preppy as possible. She also mentioned that ladybugs are significant to their family. We think artist Gina Langford did an outstanding job carrying out Julia’s design direction. She even managed to sneak in a few of those special ladybugs! You can shop the entire Lemon Stripes Collection here.
